The Postmaster General Loves Me

I just got done with my Christmas cards. All 164 of them. Yes, that's right. I said 164. That's over $60 worth of postage. And I haven't even mailed my packages yet. I'm doing my part to keep the US Post Office up and running.

The sad part? That list is the pared-down version. I could have, perhaps should have, sent more. But I decided to cut out a few dozen recipients last year--mainly distant relatives and people I haven't heard from in a loooong time. (Actually, maybe that's the nice part...I'm really blessed to have at least 164 friends/families that I care about enough that I want to send them a Christmas card. And for at least a handful of them, the feeling is returned. It's enough to make a girl want to sing carols and set out cookies for Santa!)

The really sad part? I only had snail mail addresses for 4 of the people on my Blogroll. Which means that most of my loving blogmunity will not be receiving one of the 164 Christmas cards. I would have gladly toiled over a few more cards if I'd had a way to get them to you, my darlings. But since that was not to be, please accept this as a feeble replacement:

Merry Christmas, my lovely bloggers!

From now on, I hope you'll think of me every time you see a creepy elf, gnome, or pixie. But not when you see a troll. That would be insulting.

  • Arwen, today was the third time I've tried to comment on your blog only to be rejected by the beta. I even tried to use one of Ty's sign-on thingies that's set up in the beta, but I couldn't even get that to work. Blogger doesn't want us to be friends!!!

    I miss you!

  • man, i didn't send christmas cards last year for the first time, oh, ever... i never counted past one hundred, it was just too staggering.

and? i'm not sending them again, this year. it's liberating.

speaking of addresses.... i need yours, for real. i have something to seeeeend you (please read that last sentence in an obscenely annoying sing-song).

send it to me, pretty please? rebecca hyphen marie at hotmail dot com.

  • RM, I emailed you several weeks ago asking for your address (I would have upped it to 165 for you...other bloggers, don't be jealous--RM's the only one I have an email addy for). I have a sneaking suspicion I forgot the hyphen, so it went to some other Rebecca Marie. And now she has my home address, since I included it in a "request contact info, provide contact info, quid pro quo" sort of thing.

  • that's AWESOME. i hope you get something real special from her (or him, i suppose).

  • I suddenly have images of seinfeld running in my warped little (HAHA! ya like that pun?) mind. 164? I MUST see the book you keep your addresses in sometime.

  • Ryan and I cheat. Ry makes a cute picture collage (Mainly of Jones) with some sort of saying such as: Merry Jesus' Birthday...Love the Woods and then we get them printed at Walgreens and then I send them out like postcards. Yep, like I said, cheating. But I do not want to take the time to even lick an envelope...and so I don't. Does that make me a terrible person??

By Blogger Jess, at 11:59 PM

  • Hey I will send you one if you email me your address. mine email is Jessaleawoods@hotmail.com

By Blogger Jess, at 12:00 AM

  • Jess you are not terrible, just creative :)

By Blogger dodyb, at 5:24 PM

  • the only thing that makes you terrible is the porn pic you put on last years card... you know the one...

Oh. Gina... i'm sorry... i sent ty a HisSpace message, but it is not working right now, but... I'll be down there on Christmas Day until Thursday...perhaps one day you could come and see my tiniest little baby butt?

and I need your real phone number because I thought I had it but I don't.

  • John, my addresses are in an Excel spreadsheet--which is the reason I was able to print up address labels for all the cards so easily. (Okay, so I had my more technologically inclined friend at work help me, but I could have figured it out myself if I'd had more time.)

Jess, Ty said he'd email you our address last night. Did he remember to do it? If not, let me know and I'll send one post-haste. Because I want a little Jones pic collage. I want one hard!

Arwen, I'm taking the day off on the 26th, so we should definitely get together for some Tiny Baby Butt viewing...and you should come admire my two sparkly Christmas trees and have a piece of Ty's award winning pumpkin pie (if Killer hasn't eaten all six of them by the time you get here). I'll call you sometime this week/weekend to be sure my number is in your phone.

  • I was so excited to be one of the chosen few to get one of those xmas cards and even more excited to find out that you are expecting. Email me so we can talk all about the wonderful world of childbirth and the awesomeness of having a baby boy!

By Blogger arwen, at 11:52 PM

  • and I'm working a lot this week (until christmas eve) so I may not answer, but leave me a message so I know it's you!

By Blogger arwen, at 11:53 PM

  • Ladies and gentlemen of the Blogmunity, the Karen who commented above is one of the very coolest people EVER. She was my RA at York, and she rocks the house. No, she rocks the neighborhood. No, the town. No the county! She just rocks, okay?! She's funny as all heck, and she's wicked smart and plays a mean game of Spades, too. Plus? Has a little boy cute enough to give all the other cute little boys around here serious runs for their money.

Just thought you should know. (You should also know that I'm impressed that her Christmas card made its way all the way to New Hampshire in 4 days or less. Wow.)

Arwen, I'll see what I can do on both counts. I'm kinda swamped at work right now, and since I'm taking Thursday and Friday off, I have to buckle down and actually get stuff done around here. Sucks to be responsible.

if you try I'll poke you with my faux.

By Blogger arwen, at 1:42 AM

  • I don't even know which one I hope you get...they're all so fabulous, I can't stand it!
